Soulnote startades av Norinaga Nakazawa, tidigare känd som chef för Marantz Japan och ansvarig för utvecklingen av den ikoniska CD63. Soulnote har en spännande ambition. – Att bli den ledande highend-tillverkaren i världen. Och för att lyckas har Norinaga anlitat ingen mindre än Hideki Kato, som står bakom flera av Marantz mest exklusiva produkter.
Med Soulnote är tanken att lyfta kvaliteten ännu högre. Och målet är att komma så nära musikens innersta väsen som det bara är möjligt. Soulnote Version 2 – minimalism i filosofi, maximal musik
I en tid när elektroniken allt mer tenderar att integrera funktioner, nätverk, streaming, DAC, förstärkare och allt därtill i en och samma låda — står Soulnote kvar i en logik som börjar glömmas bort i hetsen att tillfredsställa alla.
Musikalisk renhet och skönhet finns just i den andra änden av ett konstruktionsideal, där Soulnote står orubbligt och självsäkert. Här placeras varje funktion i sin egen noggrant optimerade låda, där störningar tystas och musikaliteten får blomma fritt.
En princip om renhet
Kato, chefsdesigner hos Soulnote, har länge varit tydlig i sin filosofi: ljudkvalitet är inte primärt en fråga om imponerande mätvärden — snarare är det frågor om timing, dynamik och störningsfri signalväg.

I praktiken uttrycks detta i beslutet att dela upp funktioner i separata enheter: en ren DAC, en ren förstärkare, ett rent RIAA-steg etc. I varje modul finns endast det som krävs för att utföra dess enda uppgift med så få kompromisser som möjligt — inget mer. Detta tillvägagångssätt minimerar interna kompromisser, korsstörningar och distortion, eftersom varje krets kan optimeras för just sin roll utan att balansera hänsyn till andra funktioner som konkurrerar om utrymme och resurser.

A-2 V.2 – den levande förstärkaren
Med A-2 VER2 visar Soulnote vad en integrerad förstärkare kan vara när varje detalj får vara i musikens tjänst. Här har man inte kompromissat med flexibilitet eller flerkanalig integration – i stället är hela konstruktionen fokuserad på ren, dynamisk förstärkning. Här får man 80 W i 8 Ω att kännas som betydligt mer – inte för att det mäter bäst, utan för att det låter levande, snabbt och dynamiskt.
D-2 VER2 – digital renhet med analog själ
